Definition
Arc diagram is a means to represent network connections. In this diagram, the position of nodes is in a linear straight line, and the connections between the nodes are represented by the arcs. The thickness of these arcs is helpful to represent the frequency between the source node and the target node.
Why do you need it?
Arc diagram uses the arc to represent the relationship and the link between different nodes. Hence it makes it easier to make clusters of the data based on the relationship between them. However, they can become difficult to interpret when there is a large number of connections.
What kind of data you can visualize with it?
Assume you want to represent the teachers in an area. So we’ll put all the teachers in a straight line as nodes. We can now join the teachers through links based on the school they teach in or the subject they teach etc.
